Restaurant

The burrata was heavenly and the venus clam pasta was amazing. Impeccable service and brilliant view of Positano. Best meal that we have had in Italy

They should have contacted us before we walked all the way to them in the rain, let us know in advance that the outdoor covered seating with the great views was closed and gave us the option to cancel our reservation without a penalty. The outdoor seating with the great views is the only reason to pay the inflated prices to eat lunch at Maestro. We made a reservation for lunch and had to give a credit card to be charged if we canceled. The main reason to eat lunch at Maestro was to sit outside and enjoy the view. It was raining the day of our reservation but we had no choice but to go or we would be charged a cancellation fee. We walked the 12 minutes in the rain from our hotel to Maestro. There was no sidewalk so we had to walk in the street which was dangerous. Also, there is no door to the restaurant from the road. We had to wait in the rain for an employee who was being dropped off to open a car park gate for us and then we had to walk down a slippery and steep driveway. We figured all of this would be worth the trouble because we knew from the pictures that they had an outdoor seating area that was covered from the rain with great views. However, the staff refused to let us sit outside for lunch blaming the rain but there were plenty of dry tables and this was the reason that we came. To make matters worse, they charge unreasonably high prices for lunch. Per the attached picture of the receipt, we were charged unreasonable prices like €10 for a coke and €40 for a sandwich. The staff sat us inside at a window with a slight outside view but this was nothing worth all the trouble to get there and not worth the high prices. The staff was friendly but I wish we could have enjoyed their service while sitting outside for the view which is why made a reservation.

You get a free boat shuttle service from Positano pier, but don't expect to take any pictures from the boat as it's purely a shuttle, not a tour. Upon arrival at the restaurant, you're greeted by super friendly waiters. For lunch, you must order the 100-euro three-course meal. You'll need to order one drink for photos and one water for practicality. With the included 10% service charge (hence the friendliness), the total comes to 250 euros. The food is decent, but you're mainly paying for the view and privacy. Unfortunately, you won't have access to any areas outside the restaurant floor. The main drawbacks are the high price and the strict cancellation policy—imagine being forced to come here on a rainy day.

We dined here June 2023 so this is a late review. This place was exquisite, truly one of the most beautiful places in Positano. The food is one of those artsy tiny pieces of food kind restaurants and it was very tasty but very small portions. My only complaint is a bottle of rosé was snuck onto our bill and so was an additional appetizer, the server made us think it was complementary or something special from the chef since we were celebrating a special event when it definitely was not. I wish the server hadn’t done this and just allowed us to decide for ourselves what to order. I don’t really even like rosé but ended up paying €300 for the bottle and it tasted similar to a €20 bottle plus another glass of something that paired better with my meal. This just ruined our entire experience here which was unfortunate as I was so looking forward to coming here while in Positano for our wedding. I would definitely come here again for drinks and apps and to enjoy the view but probably not for dinner.

Maestros made us feel so welcome and special. It's a magical place! The view is spectacular and the food/wine amazing! Wish we had known about the boat transfer as we walked and couldn't find our way in, but as soon as we found it by ringing the bell at the hotel gate, it was incredible! A perfect place for a special celebration, highly recommend! Thank you!

Beautiful restaurant with fantastic views. Dessert was very good but the rest of the courses were average and definitely not what one will expect for what was charged. Overall definitely not value for money.Treatment by management really did not make me feel that my custom was valued. This was supposed to be a highlight of our trip but unfortunately turned out to be bitterly disappointing. I will unfortunately not recommend the restaurant and will not return.

Amazing experience and service at the Maestro. The location and views are outstanding and so is their service. We were staying in Positano near the main beach and they offer complimentary boat pickup and drop off to their restaurant from the main pier which is fabulous! The food was super fresh, we also got complimentary zucchini flower with ricotta cheese filling. The flower was handpicked from their garden like most of the other ingredients a few hours before, cannot get fresher than that. The only reason I’m giving a 4 star is because the restaurant is on the pricier side to comparables in the area, and don’t have wine by the glass, which we would have loved to try. But it’s an absolute must try when you are in Positano! We ordered the grilled chicken and Nerano pasta

Best food, service, and scenery of the entire trip to Positano, as reflected by the price. Highly recommend if you have it in your budget. Make your reservation well in advance and plan to pay 50 euro per person if you no show or cancel without 24 hrs notice.

Incredible arrival by boat. Gorgeous table. Gorgeous view. But the food was mediocre, the service seemed stressed, the place was half empty, and many customers seemed unhappy, but they were demanding and histrionically white lotus. It seemed so grand when we arrived and felt sort of weird and alien and unhappy when we left. The view is almost worth the price and mediocrity.

Contrary to some of the reviews about this place, I can say our experience was 11/10. This place is mesmerising. The approach to the site , escorted down to the bar area to have a drink before your meal. There are tunnels and courtyards before you get to a seated area with a fantastic view.Once we had finished our drinks it’s upstairs in the very fancy lift to the dining area. Where we are seated looking out onto Positano bay. The service and attentiveness of the waiters was superb. The food is beautiful, flavours, taste, texture and presentation . As the evening light started to dim, it was beautiful to slowly see the lights in Positano come on like a Christmas tree ! Also the lighting in the restaurant was enchanting. At the end of the evening we made our way home, the best bit to come. We arrived by taxi, went home by boat ! The restaurant has a boat service that takes you straight into Positano harbour. The approach to the boat is something out of James Bond !! Tunnels, walk ways, steps there you find your boat waiting for you.A fantastic experience, if you are in Positano and can get here, please do, if it’s anything like the time we had, you will not be disappointed!

The best night of my partner and I’s life. We got there and the staff were so welcoming and professional, our host chose a gorgeous wine for us both and the waiter made us laugh everytime we saw him. We made some incredible friends at the table next to us who got engaged. The food was absolutely impeccable, I’ve seen people complain about portion sizes in the reviews but this is very much a fine dining restaurant they were perfect for us. After the meal we went downstairs to the lounge bar and spent the night chatting away with our new friends with an incredible view of positano. We then had a stroll around the stunning hotel which has amazing gardens, pools in caves and even went down to the sun loungers on the cliff at 1am and had a very romantic night exploring the villa. They then very kindly ordered us a taxi home. We were delivered excellent service, a delectable meal and met some amazing staff and made friends for life with a at the restaurant. Thank you for the best night of our life :)

I strongly advise you to avoid this place unless you have no regard for the value of your money. The view? Nothing special—just like any other spot in Positano. The food? Overpriced and underwhelming (my aglio e olio was overly salty). But what really bothered me was the pretentious attitude of some of the staff, which made me feel uncomfortable the entire time. And be prepared to pay FOUR times more than you would elsewhere for the same experience.I take some blame for not reading the fine print, but I felt completely misled. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, luring you in with its atmosphere, only for you to realize too late what you’ve walked into. Your choices are limited: a set course menu starting at €130 per person, or pay a €100 cancellation fee. That’s not a choice—it’s a trap. The restaurant was nearly empty when we visited, so there was no justification for such a policy. Everyone deserves the right to leave if they’re uncomfortable, and this place takes advantage of people like me who get caught in their snare. Don’t let it happen to you.

One of the better meals of my life. The chef’s complimentary tasting and the two pasta dishes we had were exceptional. Topped it off with a seared sea bass steak and it was all enjoyed with an incredible view, relaxing settling and quality service.

Disappointing Dining ExperienceI recently dined at Maestro’s Restaurant & Terrace and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. With the meal priced at 100 euros, my expectations were understandably high, both in terms of quality and selection. The primary disappointment was the Milanese veal, which tasted more like dry pork instead of tender beef. The veal was remarkably bland, completely lacking in flavor. Additionally, the spaghetti was salty, making it quite difficult to enjoy. Given the premium pricing, I anticipated a much broader and more refined selection of dishes. Instead, it was incredible to see items like club sandwiches and cheeseburgers on the menu. This selection felt more suited to a diner, creating a strong contrast to the premium environment and price point. However, what truly marred the experience was the exorbitant price of the espresso coffee. At 15 euros, the expectation is that it should be made from beans of gold. This outrageously expensive espresso left me feeling quite foolish for ordering it. To add to the frustration, the price of the espresso was not listed on any menu, which felt deceitful. The service was mostly ok, polite but not friendly to English speaker, I had a hard time communicating with staff in English, understandable but could be better. On the positive side, dessert was well prepared, and the view from the restaurant is indeed incredible. The 10-euro price for water was reasonable given the setting.Overall, while the ambiance and view had their merits, the quality of the food and the hidden costs make it difficult to recommend Maestro’s Restaurant & Terrace to others, especially at such a high price point.

We cancelled as they took too long to call us back to board the boat. They charged our card anyway. I would recommend another restaurant. La Serra is better option with a better view and food and cheaper and Michelin star.

We managed to get a table at Maestro for our wedding night dinner while eloping in Positano, and it was easily the best dining experience we had in Italy.Incredible location, staff and food. I cannot recommend this place enough! The only thing to note is that it’s about a 25€ taxi ride out of the main city center to get to the restaurant.

You're 100% paying for the views here. The food was decent and service was honestly great, but nothing can justify a 35 euro glass of beer. Do not recommend if you're in Positano-there are many incredible places for a fraction of what you'll pay here!

Worst meal experience on the Amalfi Coast by far.Great view, but absolutely not worth the expense in money, time, or opportunity missed.Food was overcooked and under seasoned. The view was incredible. Service was awkward and clearly inexperienced in fine dining. (As an example, plates were being cleared while guests at our table were still eating, no guests were lapped, messy clearance)."Chicken and vegetables" was chicken that had sat under a warming light and undercooked potatoes.I've had the privilege of eating at some amazing places and I've also eaten at Maestro's.Ask yourself why the reservation policy is so strict and the restaurant so empty when Positano is overrun with tourists?

One of favorite dinners in Positano during our stay. The food was a creative spin on Italian and was very good! The views were stunning and so was the restaurant and hotel. I was shocked to see some of these reviews after my experience.

I was going to give this place a really good review. Food was really good surprisingly. Serving sizes was good.We had a really good time but what they charged us was utter robbery. It should actually be illegal.15 euro for a expreso15 euro for a sprite10 euro for waterThey robbed us right in front of our eyes. There was no drinks pricing. Which is obviously done on purpose by the looks of it charging that much. They should be ashamed of them selfs. Not like they will care or do anything about it but I hope everyone reads and sees this and does not book here. There was a steak place down the road which was much better.Girls don't come here just for photos or the views. Think of your man because he has to pay and put up with that robbery!
